A statement made by Lagos State Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Mr. Lawal Pedro (SAN) on Monday, October 21, 2024, revealed that the toxicology report and other forensic analyses regarding the death of singer Ilerioluwa Oladimeji Aloba, also known as Mohbad, were received in the United States.
Pedro affirmed that the autopsy report is currently in the possession of the coroner magistrate and the Lagos State Pathologist at a press conference held at the Ministry of Justice in Alausa, Ikeja.
The announcement was made before a gathering of strategic stakeholders and during his first-year office briefing. Pedro admitted that there were delays in the investigation, which he attributed to the time needed for a comprehensive forensic analysis.
He noted, “Yes, I agree there has been a delay, and the delay is caused by the time taken for investigation.” The case continues to garner widespread attention, and authorities are focused on ensuring a comprehensive inquiry.
He went on to say that thorough investigative techniques, such as toxicology and forensic analysis, are crucial to guaranteeing that each case presented in court has the proof required to obtain a conviction.
He added, “Forensic, analysis, toxicology, all these are part of the investigation. Full-proof investigation that can lead at least to conviction in a case that is presented before the courts.
The Attorney General further explained that the Lagos DNA and Forensic Center was destroyed during the October 2020 #EndSARS protests, which is why the toxicological test had to be performed in the United States.
