Seun Kuti, a singer and the son of the Afrobeats legend Fela Anikulapo Kuti, has recounted how the late politician MKO Abiola and his wife, Simbiat Abiola, planned to kill his father.
In a video shared on social media, Seun Kuti alleged that MKO and his wife lied to the police, claiming that Fela and his gang robbed her of her Ferrari.
Seun stated that Fela was arrested and questioned, but luckily, he was performing in Cameroon when Abiola’s wife made the complaint. He said Fela questioned how he could be performing in Cameroon and still rob her in Lagos, which was impossible.
According to the Afrobeats singer, Fela retaliated to Abiola’s wife’s allegation by plastering 12 buckets of feces all over his house.
He continued to say that when the police came to question Fela about the incident, he denied it.
Seun further mentioned that Fela made a song about the incident titled “Give Me Shit, I Give You Shit.”
Seun narrated, “Abiola and his wife, Simbiat went and lied about Fela, claiming that he and his boys robbed her of her Ferrari and that Fela carried his boys at gun point and robbed her of her Ferrari. During Idiagbon’s regime at that time, this was Abiola and his wife’s plan to kill my dad because under Idiagbon at that time, armed robbery was punishable by death. No story, you’re being killed. Simbiat went to the police station to give a statement, saying she saw Fela and his gang robbing her at gun point.
“That’s how Fela was arrested for armed robbery, punishable by death. But luckily for Fela, he was performing in Cameroon, on the day Simbiat was lying about being robbed by his gang. That was how Fela was able to escape that case because he couldn’t be in two places at the same time. It was either he was on stage in Cameroon or he is robbing in Lagos. Which is it?
“At that time, Fela had no house. He was staying at one of his friend’s flats. At that time, all his houses were burnt, and he was starting from scratch.
“In response to the accusations leveled against him by MKO and his wife, Fela went to collect feces. If you think I’m lying, you can ask my elder brother, Femi. My father dragged him along on that mission. They went to collect 12 buckets of feces. Go and listen to Fela’s song, “Give me shit, I give you shit”.
“Fela loaded the buckets of feces on a truck he had and went to Abiola’s house, dumping the feces all over the premises.
“The police later came to question Fela about the incident but Fela claimed innocence.”
