Mixed reactions have been met with veteran Nollywood actor Zack Orji's statement of being a Gabonese and not a Nigerian.

During an interview with Konnect With Shaddee (KWS), the veteran revealed that contrary to what many believe, he was born in Gabon, not Nigeria.

Zack Orji explained that he even has a middle name that is usually not on screens. His middle name "Amiefuna" which means "let my heritage not be lost" was given to him by his father to have a continuity of his lineage and also not be lost from his origin.

He said: "There’s one name that is usually not on the screens and that’s my middle name. My middle name is Amiefuna. My father gave me that name meaning “let my heritage not be lost.

“By reason of my work, I travel to different countries and by reason of my father’s work he also travelled to countries. He worked with John Hault, he had knowledge of French and in one of his travels I was born in Gabon and I have gone back to Gabon to direct a film”

Zack Orji's revelation was a big surprise to social media users and they shared varied views.

The seasoned actor supported Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the then-candidate of the All Progressives Congress, in the general election of 2023 to become the nation's next president.

In a two-minute video he shared on social media, Zack Orji called Tinubu the leading advocate for Nigeria's democratic consolidation.

The filmmaker went on to say that he had known Tinubu for more than 40 years, during which time he had advocated for equity, justice, and national unity.
