A South Africa-based Nigerian interior designer, Ayanda Carter is trending on social media after an unlawful detention by the Nigerian Police Force in Abuja.
According to reports she reported Stanley Uzochukwu, her client, to the police after receiving threats from him. She was later invited to Abuja for questioning which she obliged but never returned.
According to information obtained, the designer's imprisonment was related to work she did for Uzochukwu, who is alleged to have intimidated her before orchestrating her detention.
Explaining why Ayanda was arrested, a Twitter user, @OloladeAngel wrote: “For those wondering why #FreeAyanda is trending; apparently an interior designer was unlawfully arrested by her wealthy client after going to the police to complain about threats she was receiving from him.”
Another user, @humairehhassan also wrote: “They invited Ayanda for questioning, she flew to Abuja and never returned back home. This is very sad and something needs to be done asap to get her out.”
Many people have voiced concern about how someone will file a case of alleged threat against her and she would rather be detained.
