Election: I didn’t insult Igbo community - Brymo clarifies

Brymo Brymo

Singer Brymo has denied insulting the Igbo community in a tweet while sharing his thoughts on the 2023 election.

Recall that Brymo took to his Twitter page and made some condescending remarks which many found offensive.

The singer earlier tweeted, “Fuck ndi Igbo, to hell with it”. However, after several backlash from fans and colleagues, Brymo deleted it.

A petition was also signed by over 8,000 Nigerians who called for the singer to be stripped off his 8th All Africa Music Awards (AFRIMA).

Brymo has now taken to social media to clarify that he was referring to the non-state actors clamoring for a different country and not the Igbos themselves.

He wrote:

“It is very important you understand that this entire fracas began with me seeing in the media that Chimamanda Adichie refused some national honours and had picked up some traditional title in the East at home.

“I have clamoured for Igbo presidency in the last few years, you wouldn’t believe it.

“I said, ‘Fuck Ndi’Igbo to hell with it – the ‘it’ refers to the peddlers of the movement i.e people championing for it.”
