BREAKING: Baba Ijesha’s sexual assault trial adjourned to September 27

The trial of actor, Olanrewaju Omiyinka popularly known as Baba Ijesha has been adjourned to September 27.

The case held at the Lagos Special Offences Court in Ikeja, scheduled for Wednesday and Thursday, has been postponed by Justice Oluwatoyin Taiwo.

The court adjourned the case as a result of the long vacation of the judges which will end on the third week of September.

Background

Baba Ijesha was arrested in April 2021, by the Lagos Police Command following his alleged assault on 14-year-old foster daughter of Comedienne, Princess.

He was charged on six-counts of sexual assault by penetration, indecent treatment of a child, and sexual assault, which contravene sections 259, 135, and 261 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State 2011, as well as 135, 263, and 262 Criminal Law of Lagos State 2015.

The actor has since been released on a N2 million bail after he employed the services of two senior advocates of Nigeria – Dada Awosika and Babatunde Ogala, and other lawyers to defend him in court in the last sittings.
