Despite everything that happened in the year 2020, we can as well tell that Nigerian music did not get off the hook.

Some artists like Teni, Davido, Burna Boy, amongst others continued to produce hit songs that got people dancing.

Aside from the pandemic, #ENDSARS was also an event that put a halt to the free movement of citizens.

Nonetheless, artists never failed to give out their best.

Others like Tiwa Savage, Mr. Eazi, amongst others collaborated with foreign musicians like Nicki Minaj, Sam Smith, and a host of others.

Niniola, Burna Boy, Tiwa Savage, Davido, Olamide, Teni, Rema, Fireboy, DJ Neptune, and many more produced some good in the year 2020.

In no particular order, here are the best songs that were hit in 2020

WAY TOO BIG - BURNA BOY

This song is alleged to be the reason Burna Boy and Davido reignited their beef.

In the song, Burna Boy brags about been way too cool and smart for unnecessary drama.

He is now an artist nobody can stop in the industry.



ELI - FIREBOY DML

Fireboy DML is one of Nigeria's most buzzing artist.

His 17-song album, Apollo featured collaborations with Olamide, Wande Coal, and D Smoke, and production handled by Pheelz, IamBeatz, P-Prime, and Type A.

He said in an interview that the album was about evolution, growth, love, and pain.



'GINGER' - WIZKID feat. BURNA BOY

Nigerian superstar, Wizkid released his album Made in Lagos on October 30.

The album was scheduled for release in October but was postponed due to the EndSARS protests.

Wizkid also participated in the #EndSARS protests and went on to dedicate Made in Lagos to the collective call for an end to police brutality in his home country.

The 14-track album includes notable features from Skepta, Damian Marley, H.E.R., Ella Mai, and Terri.



'AYE' - NAIRA MARLEY

Naira Marley's Rexxie-produced single "Aye" explores the meaning of life and encourages listeners to keep pushing even in the midst of challenges.

In "Aye", the Yoruba translation for "life" the rhythm and lyrics work together to convey Marley's contemplativeness as he navigates and searches for meaning.

Released in March, at a time when the world needed it most, the at-times controversial Nigerian artist spoke about persevering through life's obstacles.



'NO LONGER BENEFICIAL' - SIMI

Simi had a lot of big hits in 2020 when she dropped "Duduke".

Simi said in an interview that her EP was inspired by her husband Adekunle Gold.



DANGEROUS LOVE - TIWA SAVAGE

Tiwa savage dangerous love was one of the hit songs which made highlights. The song made over 1 million views on Youtube in 5 days.



"Beamer (Bad Boys)" REMA x Rvssian

He is one of the artists to look out for in 2021.



'FEM' - DAVIDO

Davido's FEM was released in September. The song played a role in the #ENDSARS protest as it later becomes the unlikely anthem for Nigerian's #ENDSARS protest.



'NOBODY'- DJ NEPTUNE, JOEOY & MR EAZI

Nobody is the second single from Neptune's The Greatness II [Sounds of Neptune].

The song featured Joeboy and Mr. Eazi and was one of the most-streamed songs across Africa.



'FANTASY' NINIOLA ft. FEMI KUTI

This single by Niniola features music legend, Femi Kuti. It was one of the songs released early in the year.
