Renua Giwa-Amu, daughter of popular Lagos lawyer and clergyman, Femi Giwa-Amu was confirmed dead on Sunday, December 27.

According to sources familiar with the incident, Giwa-Amu committed suicide following several outbursts on social media.

The artist in a lengthy post on Facebook accused her father of rape when she was only 7-year-old.

Despite informing her mother and other family members about the frequent act, the post said that they turned a blind eye to her accusation.

“They always find an excuse for this man and enough is enough,” she wrote in October.

“My uncles and aunties who have been raining insults and campaigning against me need to ask themselves what they are truly afraid of right now,” she continued.

Ekohotblog reports that she had also called out her mother, stating that no one should share “crocodile tears at my funeral.”

Giwa-Amu took to his Facebook page on Sunday to share a photo of a dimly-lit candle in a dark background to mourn his 26-year-old daughter.
