Actress Yvonne Jedege says Ugandans have self-esteem issues

Nigerian actress, Yvonne Jegede has shared her experience with working with Ugandan celebrities amid the arrest of singers Omah Lay and Tems in the country.

The actress recalled being labeled proud after she said she didn't know any Ugandan artist. She further stated that Ugandans suffering from self-esteem issues have noting to do with Nigerians.

"I was in #Uganda in 2013 to shoot a film, after every sentence came 'you Nigerians are very proud', even when I said I didn’t know any Ugandan artist I was labeled proud," she tweeted.

"I am proud of where I come from, your self-esteem issues have nothing to with Nigerians."

Meanwhile, arrested singers, Omah Lay and Tems were released after they reportedly flouted coronavirus protocols in the country.

The announcement was made by Ugandan singer, Bebe Cool who confirmed alongside documents confirming their release.

In the documents, Okumu Jude Muwone, the presiding judge who is the chief magistrate of Makindye, directed that the singers be set free.

The release order for Omah Lay reads: “Whereas the accused persons Stanley Omah Didia and Muyiwa Awoniyi were charged with the offence of neglect act likely to spread of infectious disease Section 171 of Penal Code Act.

“The charges against the accused Stanley Omah Didia and Muyiwa Awoniyi has been withdrawn against them by Vide Withdrawal Form Serial No, 4292 dated December 15, 2020.
