White cop saved my life, changed my view about police - Lil Wayne

US rapper, Lil Wayne has said that his view about the police changed after he was saved by a white cop when he was 12.

The rapper stated this in reaction to the protests against the brutal death of George Floyd who died during an arrest by four cops.

Lil Wayne said that a white cop saved his life when police officers found him in his house after he had mistakenly shot himself.

“My life was saved when I was young. I was 12, I think I shot myself. I was saved by a white cop, Uncle Bob. So you have to understand the way I view the police, period,” the rapper said.

“I was saved by a white cop. There was a bunch of black cops jumped over me when they saw me at that door, laying on the floor with that hole in my chest. He refused to.

“Black cops jumped over me and ran through the crib saying, ‘I found the gun! I found this, I found that. He (the white cop) said, ‘I found this baby on this floor. I need to get to the hospital.’

“He didn’t wait for an ambulance. He took his car, made somebody drive it, and made sure I lived.”

Speaking during a live Instagram chat with Fat Joe, Lil Wayne stated the majority of those tweeting against the injustice suffered by the black race won't do more than that.

He also warned against blaming the action of one man on his race as is done with the case of the white cop held responsible for Floyd's death.
