Nollywood actor Yul Edochie has come under heavy criticism after making controversial remarks about former Anambra State governor Peter Obi.

The actor took to his X account on Tuesday, where he claimed that Obi’s presidential ambition would not succeed, regardless of the political platform he aligns with.

“Any political party Peter Obi joins will scatter. Whatever he’s doing with ADC is dead on arrival. A total waste of time… Peter Obi cannot be President of Nigeria now,” he wrote.

His comments quickly sparked outrage online, with many users flooding his comment section to express their displeasure.

Some critics questioned his credibility, pointing to his personal life and career struggles, while others accused him of seeking political relevance.

One user, @PoloM77, wrote, "Any business Yul Edochie starts will scatter.
Whatever he’s doing with life is dead on arrival. A total waste of time.
It’s not a physical problem. It’s deeper than that. I’m surprised he doesn’t know this already. Or maybe he knows but chooses to ignore it.

Another user wrote, “Even you that failed in your marriage are here talking about Peter Obi? Yul, get sense for once.”

@Ossanaquest, wrote, "Pray in your life never to have an enemy within your household because their betrayal hurts the most. And pray that any of such enemies will dance naked in the market place like Yul Edochie is doing. Ordinary Nigerians will have the last laugh. That I can assure you."

Another added, “That’s why your Nollywood career went down the drain. Focus on yourself.”

Others went further, accusing him of attacking Obi to gain favour within political circles, while urging him to stay out of matters they believe he lacks authority to comment on.

The backlash highlights the sensitivity of Nigeria’s political climate ahead of the 2027 elections, where public figures continue to face intense scrutiny over their opinions.
