Nollywood actress and media executive Mary Remmy Njoku has sparked a viral conversation online after offering a candid perspective on family dynamics, asserting that blood relations do not automatically entitle relatives to be considered true family.

In a social media post, the ROK TV boss explained that while relatives share a biological connection, becoming genuine family requires love, loyalty, honesty, and mutual support.

Using a job interview metaphor, Njoku described blood relation as merely giving someone the first opportunity to prove themselves as family.

"Your relative is NOT necessarily your family. There's a huge difference.A relative is someone you are connected to by blood. Someone God gave the first opportunity to become your family. They get the first 'interview,' so to speak.

" Some will pass. Some will fail. A relative becomes family when that blood connection is strengthened by love, loyalty, honesty, presence, and a genuine desire to see you happy and succeed," Njoku wrote.

The actress further cautioned her followers against holding onto toxic relatives who harbor hidden envy or sabotage individual growth.

"And when a relative lacks all of these things... when they resent your happiness, undermine your growth, disappear when you need them, or secretly want to see you fail, they are NOT FAMILY," she added. "They are simply a relative who failed the interview. And in some cases... a RESIDENT EVIL."
