Nigerian social media activist Martins Otse, popularly known as VeryDarkMan (VDM), has fired a strongly worded warning at Afrobeats superstar David Adeleke, widely known as Davido, accusing the singer of hypocrisy and exploiting his fanbase for political maneuvering.

The fiery rebuke comes in the wake of mounting backlash against Davido after his uncle, Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke, was officially named as a state coordinator for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s 2027 re-election campaign council—despite Davido aggressively campaigning against the All Progressives Congress (APC) during past regional elections.

Taking to social media, VeryDarkMan argued that the political positioning during the Osun elections was a deliberate deception to secure votes, claiming that the singer was fully aware of the political calculations at play.

"During that time, Davido made a lot of posts on social media against the APC, but it was APC against APC. So he was trying to demonize the other APC so people vote for his uncle. Because if people had known that his uncle was APC, he would have lost the election. David knew everything. This was all a smokescreen. I never believed it. It was the gullible Nigerians who believed it," VDM stated.

Directing his frustration straight at the singer, VDM demanded that Davido stay out of Nigerian political commentary moving forward, accusing him of failing to leverage his international exposure to attract meaningful infrastructure or employment opportunities to Osun State.

"Davido, henceforth, I don’t want to see you talking about Nigerian politics again because you’re a user and a hypocrite. You used your fans. Stay out of Nigerian politics, because if you don’t, I will come for you, finish you and expose you completely," the activist warned. "You don’t care about the people of Osun or Nigerians. It’s all about your selfish agenda and interests. That’s why your uncle has done nothing since becoming Governor of Osun State. No infrastructure, no employment, nothing!

Governor Ademola Adeleke’s recent integration into the expanded 2027 APC presidential campaign structure has sparked fierce debates and mixed reactions across Nigerian digital spaces, particularly among supporters who backed his previous anti-APC campaigns.
