Popular Nigerian comedian and filmmaker Ayodeji Richard Makun, best known as AY, has launched a critique against Nigerians who rely on local charms and witchcraft for destruction rather than developing meaningful technology.

In a viral video recorded on his birthday in the United States, the veteran entertainer pointed directly to the gap between scientific innovation and the destructive use of traditional powers in Africa.

Filming himself inside a driverless Uber as the steering wheel turned automatically, AY expressed frustration at how Africans frequently debate Western superiority while channeling their own traditional capabilities into harm.

“When oyinbo dey tell una say them no be una mate, una go dey follow them dey argue,” AY declared in Pidgin. “Una go dey use una own juju dey do different thing, dey kill people for Africa.”

The comedian showed how he unlocked and started the autonomous vehicle using only his smartphone, comparing the seamless technological advancement with what he described as a widespread focus on backward and malicious practices back home.

"See na, this car dey drive by itself. Na my own Uber be this, e don dey carry me go where I dey go," he added, using the autonomous ride as proof that Western scientific innovation remains far ahead.
