Social activist and content creator, Debo Adebayo, popularly known as Mr Macaroni, has taken a swipe at the leadership of the National Assembly over his recent announcement.

The Senate President, Godswill Akpabio announced to the lawmakers that the clerk of the national assembly has sent a token to their various accounts to enable them enjoy the holiday.

The Senate on Monday revealed that they would be going on a two-month recess and to reconvene on September 26.

However, prior to the adjournment of plenary, the Senate President disclosed that there was some cash sent to their accounts for enjoyment.

Upon his realisation that the plenary was live on national television, Akpabio withdrew his statement.

This didn't go down well with several Nigerians, who took to social media to slam him and the national assembly. Some called for his resignation as Senate President.

Others question how the Senate acquired the money they are sharing while
Nigerians languish in economic hardship.

Reacting to the incident, Mr Macaroni slammed Senate President Godswill Akpabio for his action.

Taking to his Twitter page on Wednesday, Mr Macaroni said;

“The Senate President has sent very expensive prayers out of the insufficient blessings of over 200 million people to himself and his already blessed colleagues at the National Assembly.

“These are the leaders that have asked struggling Nigerians to make sacrifices if they want things to work in the country. So while Nigerians are going through unbearable hardship, our leaders are sending money to themselves to enjoy holidays.

“Who are those that should be making sacrifices if not for our leaders?
“Do our leaders understand that leadership is about service, selfishness and sacrifice??

“Why do the poor people of Nigeria have to pay for the luxurious lifestyle of the leaders?? Why??? This isn’t leadership!!!”
