Nollywood actress Mary Njoku has sparked conversations online after sharing a thought-provoking message about the role of faith and action in solving Africa's challenges.
In a post on her Instagram page, the actress argued that while prayer is important for guidance, strength, and wisdom, many of the problems facing society require practical solutions and deliberate action.
According to her, issues such as insecurity, poor healthcare, bad roads, unemployment, and economic hardship cannot be resolved through prayer alone without planning, accountability, and hard work.
Mary Njoku explained that even basic needs like food depend on human effort, from farming and transportation to preparation and distribution.
Drawing references from biblical teachings, she noted that many acts of provision in the Bible came through people taking action rather than relying solely on miracles.
Addressing African Christians, the actress encouraged believers to embrace responsibility alongside their faith.
“You cannot bind and cast away bad roads. You cannot rebuke a failing healthcare system into working. You cannot pray away the bandits terrorising our communities,” she stated.
She emphasized that faith and action should go hand in hand, stressing that meaningful change can only happen when prayers are backed by practical efforts.
Her remarks have since generated mixed reactions online, with some Nigerians applauding her message as a call for accountability, while others insisted that prayer remains a powerful tool in addressing both spiritual and physical challenges.
