A video has surfaced on social media of Akwa Ibom women protesting on the streets against Senator Natasha Akpto-Uduaghan’s sexual allegations.
On Friday, Natasha Akpoti, representing Kogi Central District, accused Senate President Godswill Akpabio of sexually harassing her on multiple occasion and targeting her for refusing his advances during an interview on Arise Television.
This caused a stir, with many reacting to her allegations, including Akpabio’s wife, Ekaette Unoma Akpabio, and Senator Ireti Kinigbe.
Akpabio’s wife had filed a lawsuit against Natasha sexual harassment allegations, seeking N350 billion in damages to her husband’s reputation.
In response, Natasha urged the Senate President’s wife to refrain from intervening and allow her husband to address the allegation himself.
Senator Ireti Kingibe, the lawmaker representing the Federal Capital Territory stated that Natasha was fond of disobeying the Senate rules. She accused her of causing a scene during a seating arrangement dispute in the Senate last week. Following the altercation, women were seen protesting against Natasha in Akwa Ibom.
Charly Boy expressed his disappointment at the way Nigerians choose to minimize and dismiss sexual misconduct when a woman exposes it.
He wrote, “See Yeye Women wey full house.
@AreaFada1
It is disappointing that so many Nigerians choose to minimize and dismiss sexual misconduct whenever a woman exposes it. This culture, where women are expected to either conform or face punishment, is not only appalling but dangerous. The women who defend accused men are even more troubling because they too reinforce a system that silences victims and protects perpetrators from accountability.”
