Wild commentary trail 'Golden' performance by Uganda's Ghetto Kids on Britain's Got Talent

The 2023 edition of Britain's Got Talent has officially begun.

The Ghetto Kids, a well-known dance troupe from Uganda made the decision to participate in the show and surprisingly they got the enviable "Golden Buzzer".

Ghetto Kids who comprise of 30 children residing in an orphanage home in Uganda delivered what many have described as the best performance on the night that made the judges completely speechless.

The new judge, Bruno Tonioli, who is an Italian choreographer, couldn't hold his excitement at their stage performance and opted to press the golden buzzer.

Tonioli stated that their performance left him "feeling like exploding" after the show.

Facts about Ghetto kids

1. Origin of the name Ghetto Kids"

The Ghetto Kids, formerly known as Triplets Ghetto Kids is a dance group founded in 2014 by Dauda Kavuma. The group is made up of orphans from the Katwe slum in Kampala, Uganda.

Kavuma Dauda said during the show that the goal of his home is to encourage the children through music, dance, and drama - he describes this as the pillar of the organization.

Despite encouraging them through art, he says that his main objective is to provide them with an education so they can have a better future.

2. How they become popular?

The group gained internet fame after appearing in Eddy Kenzo's music video for "Sitya Loss."

Since all of them had grown up in Kampala's ghettos, they adopted the moniker "The Ghetto Kids"

The Ghetto Kids have continued to perform, touring not only in Africa but also across the globe.

3. Achievements:

American artistes, P. Diddy and Nicki Minaj have expressed appreciation for the group. In 2017, the group appeared in the video for French Montana's Unforgettable, which helped to launch their career in the US.

The Ghetto Kids visited France in January 2023 to perform at halftime at Paris Saint-Germain's home match against Reims at the Parc des Princes. Before the game, they spoke with PSG players such as Kylian Mbappé also.

Their performance has gone viral and has generated several reactions on social media.
