Why I’m focused on acting, not producing – Actress Shaffy Bello

Actress Shaffy Bello has revealed that she does not feel compelled to become a movie producer, maintaining that acting is the specific gift she has been given.

During an appearance on the Morayo Brown Show, Bello explained that acting was the means through which she gained recognition and became a household name.

She emphasised that actors should identify and stay true to their individual callings instead of pursuing roles that do not align with their talents.

“I am an actor. Every actor does not have to be a producer. I face my lane. I do what God asks me to do. And he asked me to have an impact,” she said.

Bello reflected on her journey to fame, noting that she once prayed to become widely known.

She said that after gaining the platform, she realised it came with significant pressure and responsibility.

According to her, the purpose of that platform is to create impact. She clarified that while she is not completely dismissing film production, she does not consider it her current assignment.

“He gave me a platform, and after I got that platform, it became so stressful. That once in a while I would remember the days I was on my knees asking to be a household name. Now I am.

“He then came back and said I have given you a platform, what are you going to do with it”, she said.

She noted that individuals who have been given the grace to produce should pursue it, but for now, that is not what she believes she is called to do.

“If God gave you the grace to be a producer, run with it. For right now, I will not say never, I am saying that is not what he is calling me to do,” she said.

Bello stressed that her strength lies in the impact she has on people rather than in production.

She asserted that longevity in filmmaking does not guarantee the same kind of influence, as each person has a different gift to offer.

“I tell you one thing today that when you guys hear Shaffy Bello, you will never forget how you felt in this room. That is the gift he gave me.

“Some people can produce film for 20 years and if they sat on this chair, they will not have the same effect. Because it is not their gift.

“Know what He has given you. Recognise it and use it and run with it.”

Bello also argued that women do not need to reveal their bodies to be considered beautiful and encouraged people to move beyond making choices based solely on survival.

“There are many people out there that needs my voice that you do not have to show your boobs to look sexy. If you are going to do ashawo do it well. But do not stay there. Some do it to feed their family. If I sit and go do films (it is not about money)”, she added.
