Nigerian singer and songwriter Johnny Drille has revealed that he had already walked down the aisle with his wife Rima Tahini nearly two years before their relationship was even made public.

Speaking during an appearance on The Right Hand podcast, the soft-voiced singer reflected on the remarkable lengths he and Rima went to in order to shield their love story from public scrutiny, describing it as a deliberate and conscious effort that required sustained work over several years.

According to Johnny, the relationship began around November or December 2018 but remained completely off the public radar for close to five years, with fans having little to no idea that one of Nigeria's most beloved romantic voices was himself deeply in love behind the scenes.

"I don't realise how much work we had to put into it for keeping it on the record for so long," he admitted.

Their relationship only became known to the public in July 2023, but by that point, the couple had already been married for approximately one year and seven months, meaning what fans assumed was the exciting beginning of a new relationship was in reality an established and committed marriage.

Johnny said the journey, though demanding, was ultimately one he would not trade, expressing particular gratitude for where they first met.

"It wasn't easy keeping it, but I'm grateful I met my wife at Mavin's," he said.
