Who is the most talented Mavin artiste ever?

Don Jazzy’s label, Mavin Records, is a powerhouse in the music industry.

A formidable force to reckon with, the label was created after the unfortunate Mo’hit split in the early 2010s. Don Jazzy has been at the helm of things since its inception.

While most of the artists on his roster have now left, Mavin Records is still one of the industry platforms oozing with too much potential.

Of all the artists that have been on Don Jazzy‘s Mavins imprint, who is the most talented though? Let’s run through a list of worthy contenders.

Technically, we can’t even call Wande a Mavin artist, because he is a product of Mo’hits. I mean his debut album is called Mushin 2 Mo’hits for a reason, right? He could easily be Don Baba J’s most talented signee. But not so fast.

Iyanya was nearing the end of his career as a singer when he joined Don Jazzy’s label and released an EP. That bought him a couple more months, among other things.

The “Kukere” singer who had immense success in the early 2010s is definitely a talent worth talking about.

Tiwa Savage

Tiwa was Mavin’s first lady and while that lasted, she enjoyed it. She didn’t just become one of the biggest artists on the continent, at a point she was on the same level as the three big guys, Olamide, Davido, and WizKid. Must have made some buck for Don Jazzy there.

Dr Sid

Dr Sid is often overlooked, even though he came from Mo’hits too. Still, I think some people appreciate what the guy brings to the table at Mavins, I guess.

Reekado Banks

In 2015, Reekado made Don Jazzy proud when he won the Next Rated award over the favourite, Lil Kesh. The event caused a beef between Don and Olamide, who both thought their own protege deserved it more.

Korede Bello

Maybe Korede Bello didn’t win Next Rated, but he was on the list too. He wasn’t just there cause he was Don Jazzy’s boy, because, in those early days, Korede stunned. His first hit, “Godwin” was an absolute stunner. Unforgettable.

Di’ja’s success was short-lived, but she sure did have the talent. Her hit “Aww” was an unprecedented number and no one could’ve done it better, as far as I know.

The first real rapper on the roster, Poe joined the label a couple of years back. It’s taken him a while to get his feet up, but the past two years have shown that Poe’s definitely got it.

Although Rema is officially signed to D’Prince’s Jonzing World, he has some kind of deal with Don Jazzy’s Mavins and as far as it goes, Don Jazzy has promoted him.

He’s a talent all right, he’s not bad at all. When it comes to the new school, he’s probably as good as it gets.

Another artist signed to Mavin through an affiliate, Crayon has been on the roster since sometime in 2019. The kid has some Wizkid kind of vibe and he may not be as big as Rema, but talent-wise, he’s something.

Ayra Starr

The current biggest artist on the Mavin Records roster, Ayra Starr has been impressive so far. She’s released an EP and album so far, and a number of hits under her belt too. Some say she’s who Tems thinks she is.

The last on this list, and one of the most talented dudes I’ve heard in a long time. Signed to D’Prince’s Jonzing World, like Rema, he was unveiled earlier this year and quickly dropped an EP. His smash hit, “Bounce” was from the EP.

But who’s it gonna be? Who will you choose if you have to choose only one?
