Pastor Andrew Emajere of COGA Ministries has strongly criticized Nollywood actress turned evangelist Tonto Dikeh following the establishment of her new prayer ministry in Abuja.
In a video that has gone viral on social media, the pastor questioned the foundation of her sudden spiritual calling, expressing concern over the ease with which public figures transition into Christian leadership.
"What does Tonto Dikeh know in the spiritual world that convinced her to open a prayer ministry? She built a church worth ₦300 million, how did we arrive here?" he asked.
He went on to criticize her rapid rise within religious circles, asking, "Which day did she repent in Pastor Jerry Eze's church that she is already a General Overseer? How did we arrive here?"
The cleric argued that the lack of regulation surrounding church establishment has damaged the reputation of the faith, stating, "If I become president, before you can open a church you must pass through screening. Christianity has now turned to something else."
He compared this with other religious traditions, asking if such would happen with Islam.
"Have you seen a woman open a mosque and call herself a female Imam or Alfa? People don't take Christianity seriously in this country?" he asked.
Concluding his critique, Emajere suggested that family governance should precede spiritual leadership, warning, "A woman that has not handled her kitchen duties finish, you went ahead to put them in Christianity, why won't confusion come in?"
