'We were fooled' - Ella the BRT content creator cries out again that there’s no more bus in Elepe

A Lagos content creator has once again sparked conversation online after sharing a video highlighting fresh challenges with the city’s Bus Rapid Transit system.

In the viral clip posted early Monday morning, content creator Ella, known on X as @darkskinned.ella, filmed the situation at the Elepe BRT Terminal around 6:30 a.m. on March 16, 2026.

In the video, she expressed frustration over the return of long passenger queues and the presence of only a single bus at the terminal.

Ella questioned whether the recent improvements commuters experienced were only temporary, as many passengers once again struggled to get transportation during peak hours.

Her video follows a series of earlier posts she shared between March 11 and March 13, where she documented severe bus shortages across several BRT corridors in Lagos.

The situation reportedly worsened after a 13% fare increase was introduced on March 2, which had already drawn criticism from commuters.

Following the public outcry generated by those earlier videos, the Lagos Metropolitan Area Transport Authority reportedly deployed 15 to 25 additional buses on March 12, which temporarily eased the congestion and reduced waiting times at some terminals.

However, the latest footage suggests the improvements may not have been sustained, once again exposing operational challenges facing Lagos Bus Rapid Transit, one of the city’s primary public transport networks.
