The President of the Nigeria Labour Congress, Ayuba Wabba has appealed to the government to reopen the economy.

Speaking on Sunrise Daily this morning, the Labour President said he is merely looking out for workers engaged in the informal sector.

Asking the Presidential Taskforce on COVID-19 to reconsider their stance on the lockdown, he said he is really concerned about the economy and wellbeing of citizens.

"We do not want the economy to remain for a long time in a coma. 70% of our people are in the informal economy. They do business on a day to day basis and are currently engaged," the Labour President expressed.

Nonetheless, he said the Labour congress would continue to engage the PTF committee on COVID-19.
