Nigerian music legend 2Baba has sparked online conversations after sharing his thoughts on the state of the nation during a recent appearance on Wazobia TV.
The iconic singer weighed in on Nigeria’s development, offering a perspective that has since divided opinion across social media.
The discussion began when the show’s host referenced 2Baba’s evergreen song E Be Like Say, noting that many of the issues highlighted in the track still seem relevant in today’s political climate.
“Now we are back in that political season again, and the same issues are still happening,” the host said.
Responding to the remark, 2Baba gave a view many did not expect.
“We are in a better position than we were years ago. Just look at it,” he stated.
The singer also opened up about his civic engagement and hinted at plans to play a more active role in shaping Nigeria’s future.
When asked whether he sees himself venturing into politics, 2Baba explained that while he has previously been involved in campaigns in a limited capacity, his efforts are far from over.
“It’s still ongoing, but I will keep at it. I plan to establish my own platform and try to effect change,” he said.
He went on to describe himself as a self-appointed representative of the country on the global stage.
“I have personally appointed myself as an ambassador of Nigeria… everywhere,” he added.
Following the interview, the comments quickly sparked mixed reactions online, with some Nigerians applauding his optimism while others criticised the statement, arguing that it does not reflect the everyday realities faced by many citizens.
