In a viral video that surfaced online, gospel singer Tope Alabi, who is known for her powerful indigenous soul-stirring lyrics, was heard ministering in a yet-to-be-identified church.

In the trending video, Tope Alabi was heard saying ‘Aboru Aboye,’ a secret language associated with Yoruba traditionalists with her backup singers repeating the words, while those in the church danced along.

Aboru Aboye is a greeting used by initiates and practitioners of Ifá divination, such as a Babalawo. It is usually responded to with the greeting, "ogbó atọ́ àsúre Ìwòrìwòfún".

According to a platform, Ayeakamara, ”Aboru” can be literarily translated into "sacrifice goes well" or "ritual goes well."

“Aboye”, on the other hand, means "you shall do the rites and the sacrifice right and well, victory, success, and harmony after the sacrifices shall be your lot."
