A video of some top Nigerian celebrities struggling to sing the country's new national anthem, "Nigeria we hail thee" has sparked reactions on social media after it surfaced.

A charity match led by Super Eagles vice-captain Williams Troost-Ekong featured several celebrities, including Sabinus, Odumdublvck, Poco Lee, Falz, Prince Ajuda, and former football players, including Joseph Yobo, Samson Siasia, Elderson Echiéjilé, Vincent Enyeama, and Carl Ikeme.

Williams Troost-Ekong's charity foundation was inaugurated during the charity match, which was attended by numerous Nigerian celebrities who came to support the vice-captain of the Super Eagles.

The charity match presented by Troots-Ekong will never be forgotten for the moment when every public figure in attendance found it difficult to sing the national anthem.

One of the funniest shots was of Sabinus' carefree demeanour during the singing of the national anthem, and it has gone viral on social media.

The national anthem of Nigeria was recently restored to its original version from the first and second republics.

Former President Olusegun Obasanjo made changes to the national anthem during his first stint as a military ruler in 1978.

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu signed the National Song Bill 2024 into law on Wednesday, May 29, to bring back the previous national anthem, "Nigeria, We Hail Thee."

The now-familiar "Arise O Compatriots" will be replaced with a new one upon the bill's final assent.

Both the Senate and the House of Representatives swiftly passed the bill.
