Veteran Nollywood actress Ayo Mogaji has revealed the reasons behind her departure from her 13-year marriage to retired footballer Victor Ayodele Oduleye.

In a recent interview on the 'Talk To Be' podcast with actress Biola Bayo, Mogaji detailed her experiences of abuse during her marriage. Mogaji, who has a 20-year-old son with fellow actor Jibola Dabo, married Oduleye in 2006.

“We fell in love with each other, but I endured beatings over any little thing,” Mogaji recounted.

“Even in England, the abusive language, the mental torture, the physical abuse—when it gets too much, I advise anyone to get out of that marriage.”

She described how the abuse escalated to a point where she would avoid being alone with Oduleye at home.

“It got to a stage that when it was only the two of us at home, I would go outside the compound and sit until someone else came around to avoid being abused,” Mogaji said.

After enduring the abuse for thirteen years, Mogaji and Oduleye have now been separated for four years. The actress's candid revelations shed light on the often-hidden struggles faced by those in abusive relationships.
