Veteran Nigerian actor and film executive Oludotun Baiyewu Jacobs, affectionately known as Olu Jacobs, has passed away at 84.

His son, Olusoji Jacobs, announced the news on Instagram on September 16, 2026, calling his father “The Lion of Lufodo” and thanking God for his remarkable life and enduring legacy.

“It is with gratitude to God for a life well lived and fought that we announce the passing of our dear husband, father, grandfather and uncle. The Lion of Lufodo,” he wrote.

The family also urged bloggers, social media influencers, and the public to honour their privacy while they mourn the veteran actor.

“We call on all bloggers and social media influencers to respect our families privacy at this time,” Olusoji added.

Olu Jacobs stood as a towering figure in Nigeria’s entertainment landscape, his versatile career spanning stage, television, and cinema.
