Verydarkman, Daddy Freeze clash on social media causing mixed reactions

Verydarkman and Daddy Freeze Verydarkman and Daddy Freeze

Social media personality, Martins Black Vincent popularly known as Verydarkman, has queried Media Personality, Daddy Freeze for advising people to invest in wristwatches than buy houses in Nigeria.

Daddy Freeze was heard in a video telling people that property in Nigeria is not an asset as the houses could be demolished at any time hence the need to invest in wristwatches.

This didn’t sit well with Verydarkman who called Daddy Freeze classless for making such claims. He slammed the media personality saying he was ashamed of his advice.

According to Verydarkman, the risks involved are greater than that of purchasing a landed property like a house.

Daddy Freeze in response refuted claims of giving such advice because he was paid for an advert and that he actually paid for the watch himself.

He also warned Verydarkman to be mindful of his utterances else he would be sued.

The video which was shared on blogger, Tunde Ednut’s page has since sparked massive reactions from social media users.

Many disagreed with Verydarkman for his rant and insults on Daddy Freeze, some also pointed out that Daddy Freeze advice was right.

Below are some reactions;

shakar_el's: Oga comot here, where u suppose talk u go loose voice , Wetin concern you with daddy freeze advert

uncle_jeff_official2: @verydarkblackman this level of ignorance is very bad. There are people that invest in Gold and diamonds, they don’t actually need to wear them around they just buy them and save it in the bank. Choose your topic wisely or less you want to join the group of clo*t chasers now. I’m not a fan of DF but what he said is actually correct although he said it in a way to protect that particular brand. However, luxury is not your field so you don’t have a single idea about the pros and cons of it. Stick to your freedom fighti3g and comot eye for investors business

sneezemankind: Poor Man go think say him make sense. Go buy one valuable watch first and own it for a year, you'll return to apologise to @daddyfreeze about this crass, insulting, and ignorant post you just made.

deoproducer: This Very Dark Man should know his limit, he just publicly displayed his ignorance smh lol. Who doesn’t know that watches are investments and more valuable in USD than properties in nigeria? It’s better to be quiet sometimes. VDM civilized people will be laughing at you watching this video a house worth 85m at 210k USD 5-6 years ago might worth 170m today but value in USD becomes 165k based on current Fx rate smh. Watches are valued in every country and currencies. Building a house to stay is different from putting your money on it as an investment.

djbign: VDM …. You wrong on this one. One of the easiest products to flip with higher margins are watches. Freeze has always spoken about this from time … no be today. Everybody has their own Modus operandi. It’s his belief. You shouldn’t call him out for that. He truly believes watches are more of investments than properties in Nigeria Today. You buy a property in nigeria for $100,000, by the end of the year that property is 65k cos of currency fluctuation. Go Eko Atlantic and Bourdillon see how many abandon properties are there, you go know say to flip house no easy especially for the price you want. But a house to live, but don’t know how FRZ for how he chooses to monetize things.

chidi.mike_cars: Local poor mentality, my watch was $33k last 5 years ago dollar rate was 550, today my watch is $43 k dollar rate at 1180 can you see the jump? Poor man @daddyfreeze the lil man will not understand.

emmanuel.ofie: Both of them are half right. Designer watches are investments, houses are assets (not investments) infact only the land is the asset. Both of them have risks. Whichever you choose is your choice.

fola_show: Freeze is looking at it from the western world angle. The dark man abi black man is looking at it from African man angle lol . Even tho They are both right. But the way the watch market has flown up in the past 4years is amazing. You need to be a watch collector to understand daddy freeze. trust me when you invest in watches the Roi is crazy.

kingsleyvictory_: But I learnt something today.

“A Rolex in Nigeria, is a Rolex anywhere.
But a house a Nigeria remains in its Nigerian value.”

While we watch a beef to know who has the best comeback, let’s not forget to learn.
It would keep us miles away from those who we don’t even need to beef with.

divalicious_ng: That advice from daddyfreeze was dumb let's be honest , na person wey don buy property dey buy watch , you don't have a home and you are buying wrist watches?

7figureboss: True, the wristwatch is hedged in dollars but is security also hedged in dollars? The point is that both are amazing investments and even in developed countries owning a wrist watch is a better investment than a landed property but in Nigeria where you could be invaded by Robbers, police, efcc, etc and the wristwatch will go on a journey of no return. So landed property is still the best especially when you have limited resources. And I also disagree with the part he said that landed properties only appreciate in Naira. That’s not true because what drives the market in Nigeria is the exchange rate. As the price of building materials go up due to the exchange rate, the prices of landed properties also go up which means that indirectly, the landed property is hedged in dollars and not Naira because it’s the dollar rate that determines the value of a property.

bb_hair_world: I support @verydarkblackman because the day I was attacked on the road I know how I squeezed my neck just to protect the gold on my neck, I was on my nysc uniform and on that day I did not expose it, just the neck part was showing, I gave them money and my two phones but I could protect that gold, just imagine that after giving them money and phones, they also got my gold. The ring that I’ve been on my searching finger for for years just got missing. This can also be applied to wrist watches.

You fit wear $100k watch make e still loss for club, that advice from daddy is not a good one for the youth.
