Nigerian social critic, Martins Vincent Otse, popularly known as VeryDarkMan, has taken to social media to call out bloggers and the government following the tragic death of Ruth Otabor, younger sister to Big Brother Naija winner, Phyna.

In a video shared online, VeryDarkMan criticised bloggers for ignoring the initial reports of Ruth’s accident but rushing to publish news of her death to drive engagement.

According to him, the sudden interest after her passing exposed the exploitative nature of some media platforms.

He further used the opportunity to slam the Nigerian government, accusing it of consistently failing its citizens.

He lamented that poor infrastructure and lack of effective systems continue to contribute to avoidable tragedies like Ruth’s death.

Ruth Otabor reportedly died from injuries sustained after being hit by a Dangote truck. Her death has since sparked conversations across social media, with many Nigerians demanding accountability.
