Popular Nigerian activist Martins Vincent Otse, popularly known as VeryDarkMan, has responded to Tochukwu Harrison, who accused destroying the long-established business structure of Igbo traders in China.
Recall that Tochukwu, in a viral video, criticized VeryDarkMan’s recent “innovative” business trip to China, alleging that the activist’s mission was a threat to Nigerian, particularly Igbo businessmen in China.
He claimed VDM was trying to “spoil what the Igbo have been doing for years,” adding that many Nigerians in China survive through the same business model.
Responding in a lengthy video, VeryDarkMan fired back, mocking Tochukwu’s appearance and comparing his nose to Mr. Fergus from the animated movie Rango, before addressing the accusations in detail.
VDM explained that his intention was never to disrupt anyone’s business but to expand his influence beyond social media and create real-life impact for ordinary Nigerians.
According to him, his ongoing trip to China is aimed at building stronger trade relationships and opening doors for more Africans to engage in fair and transparent business with Chinese manufacturers.
He recounted his connection with a Chinese businessman known as China Rox, who had earlier been scammed by a Nigerian.
VDM revealed that he helped China Rox recover part of his money, which earned him the man’s trust.
Upon his arrival in China, China Rox invited him to his factory, and VDM’s visit reportedly boosted the company’s visibility and sales among African clients.
“A few weeks later, China Rox told me that my presence in his factory attracted more Africans who trusted him because of my integrity,” VDM said.
He further disclosed that China Rox introduced him to his brothers, who also run similar businesses in China, and they were so impressed by his credibility that they offered to fly him over to visit their operations.
VDM also noted that during his visit, the Chinese partners took pictures and videos with him to post on their social media pages, which helped grow their online following and improved their brand image.
Clarifying his stance, VeryDarkMan maintained that his mission in China is to create new opportunities for Africans, not to destroy anyone’s means of livelihood.
“I didn’t go to China to bring anyone down. I went there to open doors for Africans. The problem with Nigeria is that many people, including some elites, hate progress. They block new ideas because they want to remain in control,” he said.
He expressed disappointment in Tochukwu’s comment, describing it as a reflection of the division and backward mindset** that has prevented Nigeria from moving forward.
The heated exchange between VeryDarkMan and Tochukwu Mmaduboallor has since sparked debates on social media, with many Nigerians divided.
