Afrobeats star Davido, whose real name is David Adeleke, has advised aspiring musicians to remain committed to God even after achieving success, warning that fame comes with many distractions.
Speaking during an interview with Kiss Xtra which started trending on Friday, the singer encouraged upcoming artistes to believe in themselves, work consistently on their craft and avoid losing sight of the values that helped them succeed.
According to him, passion, dedication and continuous self-improvement were key to his journey in the music industry.
โMy advice for up-and-coming artistes is first of all, believe in yourself. I worked on my craft so much. I loved music so much that I just wanted to get better every time. When I was young, I was learning from YouTube and the people around me,โ he said.
Davido also urged rising artistes to keep God at the centre of their lives, particularly after attaining fame.
โSecondly, love what you do and put God first and close, especially when you make it because there are so many distractions that can make you forget He is the reason you are here,โ he added.
