Ubi Franklin fires Desmond Elliot contesting Lagos APC Primary despite Gbajabiamila directive

Music executive, Ubi Franklin, has criticised actor-turned-politician Desmond Elliot for contesting the Lagos All Progressives Congress (APC) House of Assembly primary against the wishes of his political godfather, Femi Gbajabiamila.

Elliot, who was at loggerheads with Gbajabiamila prior to the polls, defied the direct directives of party leadership to step down for their preferred candidate.

Despite the directive, he pushed forward his ambition but was forced out of the primary on Monday after his supporters were allegedly locked out of the venue and barred from voting. Following the chaotic incident, Elliot announced his official withdrawal from the race.

Reacting to the development on X, Ubi argued that Elliot owed his previous three terms to his godfather's backing and should have yielded when asked. Ubi asserted Elliot should have withdrawn early to avoid public humiliation.

However, an X user quickly labeled Franklin’s take as a “very unintelligent write-up.”

Responding, Ubi doubled down, insisting Elliot brought the embarrassment upon himself by not bowing out gracefully.
