Afrobeats icon Tiwa Savage has pushed back strongly against long-standing accusations that she refuses to support other women in the music industry, setting the record straight during a recent podcast appearance.

Addressing the persistent narrative that she avoids collaborating with fellow female musicians, the award-winning singer pointed out that she has actually recorded more joint tracks with women than most of her peers.

However, she expressed frustration over the lack of public support and promotion those records receive compared to her male collaborations.

"People claim I don't feature female artistes, which is also a lie because check the female artists in Nigeria—I've done the most features with other females...

"But where are these gatekeepers? Why are they not promoting it? Why are people not promoting when I dropped a song with Waje? Why didn't they promote it as much as when I do a song with Davido?"she said.

Savage listed notable collaborations with top female singers, including Simi, Efya, Becca, and Waje, arguing that the public systematically ignores these efforts.

"When I feature female artistes they don’t promote the songs. So when I feature Odumodublvck, knowing it’ll give me millions of streams, they start complaining. So how are you now going to encourage me to do more?" she stated.

Beyond studio recordings, the singer highlighted how she has actively dismantled media-engineered rivalries with fellow stars like Yemi Alade and Ayra Starr.

"When they pitted me against Yemi Alade, I brought her on my show. I called her and said, 'Sis, please come out on my show because I want to crush this narrative.' When they pitted me against Ayra Starr, I made a song with her," she said.

Concluding her defense, Savage lamented the double standards imposed on female veterans in the industry:

"There are so many examples I could go on and on about, but it's like you're damned if you do, you're damned if you don't because somebody will still say, ‘She's a liar, she really doesn't like female artistes.’" she added.
