'Tinubu is the worst president of Nigeria' - Speed Darlington laments over impending income tax

Controversial Nigerian entertainer and rapper Speed Darlington has sparked conversation online after calling President Bola Ahmed Tinubu the worst president of Nigeria

In a video making the rounds on social media, the fearless artiste expressed disappointment over the impending "Income Tax", which is expected to take effect in January 2026.

Speed Darlington criticized the move by the Federal Government, describing it as insensitive and unfair to millions of Nigerians already battling economic hardship.

He argued that the government has failed to justify the removal of fuel subsidy or show transparency in how the funds are being utilized.

The rapper further stated that he preferred the administration of former President Muhammadu Buhari, despite the widespread criticism it faced, insisting that Tinubu’s government has made life even more difficult for citizens.

Concluding his rant, Speed Darlington said policies like the proposed tax are part of the reasons some Nigerians are agitating for Biafra, as they no longer believe the government acts in the people’s interest.

I understand the frustration — things are really tough right now — but it’s important to look at the bigger picture before we draw conclusions.

The income tax policy being proposed isn’t necessarily a punishment; it’s part of a broader plan to diversify government revenue and reduce overdependence on oil. Most developed countries run on structured taxation systems — what matters is how the funds are managed and reinvested into infrastructure, education, and jobs.

Rather than outright rejecting it, we should be demanding transparency and accountability from those handling the revenue. A functioning tax system, if managed well, can help fix the very issues people complain about — poor roads, weak institutions, and lack of social welfare. 🇳🇬

The real question we should be asking isn’t “Why tax?” but “Will the tax truly work for the people this time?” 🤔

When you ask the right questions, you will be abused by street urchins. Keep party affiliations, religion, or region aside - people are going through hell already. Why overburden them with many more problems and anti-people policies?
They fall sick - they fend for themselves

They need light - they provide for themselves. Removed subsidy (good idea), but where are all the money saved from subsidy? What are they used for?
But every headline, we are borrowing more and more, and absolutely nothing to show for it. They borrow for themselves without putting the masses in account. Next, we have disbursed 10 billion to 2 million households.

Nigerians need to ask the right question. Remove the religion, tribe or party mask and face the reality on the ground. Already poor Nigerians are in hell.
What policies have ever favored the masses? They increased their salaries, they are building houses for their allies while our schools and hospitals are in a sorry state.

They increased the minimum wage on papers. Retired civil servants are owed, doctors are not paid well, and even the nation builders (teachers) are ignored.
When you complain, idiots will crawl out from their holes to attack you.

@iamNEWYO__"There should be more awareness on this income tax..
It is going to send us to more poverty, and people need to start seeing it...

A government that can't manage resources shouldn't have any business taxing its poor citizens"
