Lawmaker Natasha Osawaru Igbenedion has countered claims made by 2Baba’s mum that she gave the singer beads containing spiritual charms to wear.
Recall that 2Baba’s mother took to social media to appeal to Natasha to release her son, as the family has been unable to get in touch with him for several days. She also pointed out that some beads 2Baba is wearing are laced with charms.
In response, Natasha dismissed the claims that she gave 2Baba the beaded jewelry to wear. Speaking during an interview with journalist Stella Dimoko Korkus, she explained that “those beads were given to me on my birthday, they represent a Princess from a Royal family, you know I am from the Igbinedion Royal Family.”
She went on to say that, “On my last Birthday, my mum gave me three nice beads, they call it ''EZENEKA'' which means River that never runs dry. The pearl on his neck was given to me by my grandad, the queen of England gave it to him when she was alive.
You know my grandad was a knight to the Queen of England. So they are just traditional beads, he liked them and wore them, there is nothing to it and are not diabolical and do not contain juju.
I did not wear them on him, he saw them and liked them and wore them, if you observe you will see that he likes beads a lot and has been wearing several before now.”
Natasha also addressed the misconception many Nigerians have about her, especially her high-spirited personality, which has been alleged to be drug-related.
“I entered the Assembly at the age of 28. I am 29 right now, so when people see people with that kind of energy, what do you want them to say? All this alleging and alleging, I don’t care about them because I am who I am and a happy person. I don’t even have an Instagram account, so I don’t get to see or read all these allegations...I am not personally on any social media, so whatever you are telling me now that people are alleging will be the first time I will hear it.”
