Talk show host, Wendy Williams has advised Jay-Z and Beyonce over their decision not to stand up while the American national anthem was on at the Super Bowl game.

Recall that Colin Kaepernick, a former San Francisco 49ers player, started a protest against how blacks are treated in America by kneeling down whenever the national anthem is being sang before NFL games he partook in.

The decision by Jay-Z and Beyonce has been seen as the next level of the protest started by Kaepernick.

Viral videos from the Super Bowl game saw social media users recalling how Jay-Z once reacted to Kaepernick's kneeling protest by saying we’re “beyond kneeling”.

Reacting to the action taken by the power couple, Wendy Williams spoke during her day time talk show:

“Beyonce and Jay-Z are getting slammed for not standing up. They were with their daughter [Blue] Ivy… Everyone was standing, but this only a picture… But when they were performing, if you saw the actual standing up. ‘As the bombs burst in air’, you know you put a hand over your heart. I don’t know about you, and our country might be in a bad way, but there’s no place I’d rather live than America.”

She was loudly applauded by the audience before she proceeded saying:

“And some of the first songs I learned in my life, even as a little girl; ‘America the Beautiful’, ‘Oh Say Can You See’, and all that other stuff. My mom and dad… trips would be to come to see the statue of liberty and the empire state building, in Philadelphia the liberty bell, going to Washington and passing the White House… Jay, you might be an NFL owner and I get that. Respect. But you don’t own all the NFL…”

She went on to advice the couple on what to do if they don't like America.

“Jay-Z and Beyonce you understand all eyes are on you. You should’ve stood up. If you don’t like our country, then… Anywho let’s move on.”
