Shaffy Bello slams girls who dressed indecently for audition

Actress Shaffy Bello has backed her colleague, Ngozi Ezeonu, who recently slammed two young ladies for dressing indecently to an audition she anchored.

A video from the audition, which showed Ngozi Ezeonu slamming the girls who wore crop tops without bras, generated a debate on social media.

According to her, "With your crop-tops, without bras. Who are you trying to impress? This is why people see us as unserious people."

While many criticized her for finding offence with the choice of attire worn by the girls, some backed her decision to scold them openly.

One of those who supported her position is actress Kate Henshaw who said:

“I don’t know what bra did to you, you just want to jangle everywhere, that’s on you. But if you’re going somewhere for an interview, an audition is an interview for a role, you don’t dress as if you’re going down the road to buy sugar and groundnuts. I don’t blame them, I blame us for making entries so easy. This is a profession that has Aunty Joke, RMD, Ego Boyo, Aunty Ngozi Ezeonu, Aunty Patience, Aunty Taiwo Ajayi-Lycett, the late Sam Loco Efe, and so many greats.

“If they don’t teach you at home, you will be taught outside. Then someone on X app said ‘She’s not their mother or family member to tell them how to dress’ You don’t want to dress well, stay at home.

“She has every right to say she doesn’t want to see this kind of dressing at her audition, and so it should be. Let’s put some respect on ourselves and what we’re coming to do.”

Also throwing support, Shaffy Bello told newsmen that anyone going for an interview ought to dress the way they would want to be addressed.

She said, "I stand with Miss Ngozi. I stand with what Miss Ego Boyo has said. I stand with what Kate Henshaw has said.

"I don't think we need to debate this any further. They have said it all. And for those of you who haven't seen it, they should go look into what they said.

"I stand with them on everything they have said on morality, character and how professional we are in Nollywood.

"To whom much is given, much is expected. A lot has been given to us in Nollywood and a lot is expected and we must stand as professionals and we are professionals.

"So, when you are going for an audition, dress how you would like to be addressed."
