Controversial Nollywood actor and filmmaker Yul Edochie appears to be in conflict with a deceased individual, as he believes the departed person betrayed him.
The actor has finally revealed the reason for not attending the funeral of his colleague, Junior Pope, which many other Nollywood stars did.
In a statement posted on his Instagram page on Tuesday, May 20, Yul Edochie expressed that many people had been wondering why he had remained silent following Junior Pope's passing.
Yul Edochie explained that he considered the late actor a close friend and brother, only to feel betrayed by him. However, he did not go into detail about the specifics of what went wrong between them.
He said: "I didn't want to say anything till after his burial. I know many asked why I was not there. Why I haven't said anything about it since? I took him like a brother and good friend. I was there for him when he needed me. But he stabbed me in the back, repeatedly. That's life. I'll drop the full details soon so others can learn from it. Be careful what you wish people, It could come to you."
Some online users argued that Yul Edochie accused Junior Pope of betrayal because he supported his ex-wife, May Edochie, during their marital issues.
May Edochie and Junior Pope were close friends, and the late actor supported and comforted May Edochie when she was mourning the death of her son, Kambilichukwu, in 2023.
May recently shared photos and videos of her visit to Junior Pope's widow, offering her comfort and support during her time of grief.
May told Junior Pope's widow that she believed the late actor would want his family to be happy and healthy, even though he is no longer physically present.
