Sadness as popular Yoruba actor Baba Legba dies

The Yoruba movie industry has suffered another tragic loss.

Popular veteran actor Alhaji Yekini Omobolanle popularly called Baba Legba has given up the ghost.

The actor was said to have died in the early morning of Monday, September 7

Nollywood legend Alhaji Yekini Omobolanle popularly known as Baba Legba has died.

Babalegba joins other legends in the Yoruba film industry who have died this year.

The news of the legend's death was shared by on Facebook by late Baba Sala’s son, Adejumo Boisala Emmanuel.

Emmanuel did not share what led to the death of the veteran, however, he noted that the Yoruba film star gave up the ghost in the early hours of Monday, September 7.

According to him, the late actor was a friend and supporter of his father until his death. He revealed that Babalegba joined Alawada Theatre Group in 1974 and was playing comic roles along with Baba Sala.

He also stated that sometimes, he played the role of a herbalist. At other times, he played the role of a police officer however, most times, he was in one comic role and another.

Recalling the impact of the veteran actor in his life, Emmanuel revealed that he contributed a lot to his success as he prays that his soul would rest in peace.

In other news, Legit.ng earlier reported that veteran Nollywood actor Pa Kasumu died.

The actor who had been ill for a while lost the battle of life on Sunday, March 1, 2020. The news of his death was announced by actress Foluke Daramola-Salako via her Instagram handle.

The 66-year-old Nollywood legendary actor lost his sight and had a problem walking after suffering from an unknown illness. The late thespian was said to have been suffering from both liver and heart ailments which later affected his memory.

The condition was said to have deteriorated after he could not raise enough money to fund his medical trip to India so as to continue his treatment. Pa Kasunmu caused a lot of emotional roller coaster after making an appearance at an event by actress Foluke Daramola.

The event was said to be meant for celebrating veteran and aged Nollywood practitioners most of whom are rarely seen in movies or public again due to old age.
