Nigerian author and social media activist Reno Omokri has stated that it is not a good idea to make friends at one's workplace.
On Monday, December 2, 2024, the activist shared this on his verified X account.
According to Reno Omokri, earning money should take precedence over building relationships at work.
He said that employees are obligated to follow their managers' directions as long as they are morally and legally correct, regardless of what is said in an employment letter.
Reno Omokri emphasized that rather than pursuing individual or group fulfilment, the way to earn money at work is to satisfy the boss.
He wrote, "No matter what your job title or letter of employment says, you are at your office to be and do whatever your boss requires, provided it is legal and moral. Once you understand this, you will rise in that place. An office is the worst place to make friends. Because everyone is there to make money. And if you want to make money, make your boss happy. Not yourself or your colleagues. Your boss. There is no democracy in an office. There is only hierarchy.”
