Rema Rema

Popular Nigerian singer Rema’s upcoming show in Ethiopia has been allegedly cancelled.

The show which is set to come off on Saturday, September 9, at the Sheraton Hotel in Addis Ababa was cancelled as the hotel’s management due to religious reasons.

According to report, Rema’s necklace which had the image of a burning church upside down and inverted crosses sparked mixed reactions. It was said that this act by Rema shows the singer is a devil worshipper.

The image on Rema’s necklace was said to have offended the Ethiopian Orthodox Tewahedo church and the people of Ethiopia. The led to the hotel cancelling the singer’s show.

An Ethiopian lady spoke on media personality Daddy Freeze’s Instagram live show, where she explained the reasons behind the cancellation of Rema’s show.

In her words:

“They made a statement, like a press release in Ethiopia about Rema. Yes, you can imagine, it’s a very big deal.

“They’re basically saying he is worshipping the devil because of what he has on his neck. And to be honest, I never thought of it myself. And there’s more to it; to be honest.”
