Relaxing the eased lockdown will only bring danger- SGF says

The Federal Government is not prepared to relax the gradual easing of the lockdown anytime soon, Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Boss Mustapha has said.

Speaking at a briefing of the Presidential Taskforce on COVID-19 on Monday, Mustapha noted that the country was not ready for the re-opening of the economy and tough decisions must be taken.

Adding that the relaxation would only portend grave danger, the SGF asked that the gradual easing of movement be maintained for an extra two weeks with stricter enforcement until June 1st, 2020.

The SGF noted that he understood how painful this was but he urged Nigerians to take responsibility in taking care of themselves.

"The President has approved Eased restriction from now till June 1st 2020. The security agencies are urged to recognise the dangers posed to save the country from a nationwide contagion," Mustapha added.
