Punishment of five female officers of Nigerian Immigration Service absurd - Falz

Rapper Falz has reacted to the punishment meted out to five female officers of the Nigerian Immigration Service, NIS, for participating in the #BopDaddy social media challenge which he initiated.

The female officers who are accused of bringing disrepute to the service for being part of the challenge have been told to relocate to Borno, Yobe, Kano and other States far away from their current duty posts.

Reaching out to Falz concerning the issue, the rapper stated that the punishment is unfair and that he doesn't think the ladies have done anything wrong to deserve such.

"I think it's unfair for them to even be punished in the first place. Accessing the punishment would be to even accept that they've committed some sort of offence. On what they've been accused of - moral behaviour, sabotage and bringing disrepute to the NIS - I personally still don't think they've committed any such offences. What the girls were seen doing in the video was changing from their uniform to casual outfit".

On parts of the letter which says the ladies were indecently dressed, Falz said, "I think it is really absurd. They barely exposed any part of their body in those videos. So, I don't think those girls did anything wrong"

Speaking on what he's doing to ensure that the NIS doesn't go through with the punishment meted out to the ladies, the rapper said, "I've taken time to look at the public service roles which guide the Nigerian Immigration Service and the due processes. So I'm currently writing a letter to the Comptroller General of the Immigration Service to reconsider the decision to repost them".

He also described as absurd the letter which requires the female officers to relocate to their new duty posts within seven days.

"I saw the letter which even stipulated that they must move within seven days. It's a bit absurd to expect that in the middle of a pandemic that the whole world is fighting, with no interstate travel, to expect these people to just relocate at no cost to the service", he said.

Falz concluded by revealing that he has reached out to the ladies whom he claims are being picked on because they are women.
