National Coordinator of the Presidential Task Force on COVID-19, Dr Sani Aliyu has charged State Governors to provide a minimum of 300 bed spaces per state.

Aliyu said the provision of a minimum of 300 bed spaces was necessary to be able to combat this disease.

Giving guidelines to the State Governors, he advised them not to place COVID-19 patients in the same hospitals with other patients suffering milder ailments. He asked them to place coronavirus patients in comfortable places and guide against an outbreak.

"Please have 300 bed spaces available per state. Do not place COVID-19 patients in hospitals but place them in a comfortable environment so as not to overwhelm the hospitals. We need to be very observant of the persons around us and the need to maintain physical distancing. We must do everything to prevent another outbreak," the National Coordinator said.

Noting that the COVID-19 cases were far from over, he asked State Governments to monitor residents efficiently. Giving further insights as to why the lockdown was eased, he explained that it was to allow businesses conduct economic activities.

"We eased the lockdown to allow business conduct economic activities. We wanted to implement a few decisions but our emergence out of this process is far from over. Apart from the mandatory overnight curfew, we have provided guidelines to allow for physical distancing where we allowed restaurants to operate remotely. We love to appeal state governments especially governments to monitor residents effectively," Aiyu stressed.
