Former Big Brother Naija housemate Ijeoma Josephina Otabor who is commonly known as Phyna has revealed her desire to venture into politics.

The reality TV personality stated during an interview on MyNigeria TV that she plans to enter politics in the near future.

When asked which political party she intended to join, Phyna noted that she had no particular party in mind but was willing to work for the Young Democratic Party (YDP), which aimed to empower Nigeria's youth.

Phyna, who had high expectations for the party said the YDP will soon be strong and would speak for Nigerian youths.

She said: "I have vision of going into active politics soon. I can’t decide on a political party for now but I believe when I’m all set, our YDP will be standing strong and doing a lot so I’d join the movement."

Meanwhile, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) formally registered the Youth Party.

This was confirmed by the National Commissioner and Chairman of INEC's Information and Voter Education Committee, Festus Okoye revealed this in a statement issued on Thursday, July 20 in Abuja.

MyNigeria couldn't at press time confirm if Phyna's reference was to the newly registered party.

With the addition of the Youth Party (YP), there are now nineteen (19) officially recognized political parties in Nigeria.

The Youth Party (YP) is dedicated to the participatory democracy philosophy, which places a priority on the well-being of Nigerians specifically the youth.

The party also strives to promote a sense of unity among Nigerians by treating all citizens equally and fairly, regardless of their social, political, or economic circumstances.
