Lawyer Inibehe Effiong, a former legal representative of Jude Okoye, has revealed that the statements being made on social media by singer Peter Okoye a.k.a Mr P contradict his submissions in court.

Mr P and his elder brother, Jude Okoye, are currently in a legal tussle over the defunct music duo, PSquare, which consisted of Mr P and his twin brother, Rudeboy.

The singer has been making revelations on social media about the case and reasons why PSquare had to break up after years of musical success.

One of his allegations includes Jude diverting royalties meant for PSquare to a separate account belonging to his own company.

Reacting, Lawyer Effiong lamented that Mr. P has resorted to airing the matter on social media when their case is still in court.

He wrote on X, "Our firm started the legal defence of Jude Okoye.

"We filed applications for his bail both at the Federal High Court (FHC) and at the High Court of Lagos State.

"I argued his bail application before the FHC in September 2024 which was granted by the court.

"A Senior Advocate of Nigeria later took over the case and continued from where I stopped.

"Bail conditions are discretionary, they are not indicative of guilt. Depositing passport is typically part of bail conditions granted by High Courts.

"Jude hasn’t been convicted of any crime by any court of law. We should afford him his constitutional right to presumption of innocence.

"It is baffling that Peter, who is the nominal complainant in the two cases, has resorted to social media trial while the cases are pending before courts of competent jurisdiction.

"I am not sure why he is doing this at this time.

"What he is saying online differs from the verifiable admissions he has been making under cross examination in court.

"He knows exactly what he is doing.

"He should focus his energy on testifying in court to support the charges against Jude, instead of resorting to media trial.

"The cases are in court, we should let the court decide the guilt or innocence of the defendant."
