Peace Accord Signed: Police intervene as Toluwanisings’ widow and father resolve bitter burial feud

The Oyo State Police Command has intervened in the high-profile burial dispute surrounding the late Nigerian gospel singer Toluwanisings, compelling his widow, father, and close associates to sign a formal peace undertaking to end weeks of public confrontation.

The intervention, led by Commissioner of Police Abimbola Olugbenga at the command headquarters in Eleyele, Ibadan, follows intense public scrutiny and online friction between the singer's widow, Olayemi Elizabeth Damilola, and his father, Muniru Olayemi.

The feud centered on the final resting place of the 32-year-old artiste, who passed away on October 14, 2026, after slumping in Ibadan. While the singer's father initially insisted on burying him at his Ibadan property or in his ancestral hometown in Osun State, reports suggested the widow had favored a cemetery burial.

Prior to the police intervention, close associates of the family confirmed that the widow had agreed to compromise, allowing her late husband to be laid to rest at his Ibadan residence to preserve peace.

Under the binding peace agreement issued by the police command, all parties have undertaken to cease social media attacks, media interviews, and public statements capable of reigniting tensions.

"The parties agreed to maintain good behaviour and avoid public exchanges, interviews and discussions capable of worsening the disagreement... Anyone found violating the law would be arrested and prosecuted," warned command spokesperson Ayanlade Olayinka.

Toluwanisings’ unexpected death on October 14 sparked shock across Nollywood and the Nigerian music sector, with tributes pouring in from figures including Funke Akindele, Muyiwa Ademola, and Faithia Williams.
