Ogbozo: GMA record breaking movie hits cinemas

Ogbozo (The Taboo Kingdom) was shot in 2020, a project financed by DMF productions and 9RAS Productions India in Association with Wande Faye Productions USA.

Filmed at the Volta Region of Ghana and Arizona USA, Ogbozo features veteran actor, Emmanuel France; Ama K. Abrebese, Roselyn Ngissah, Bismarck Nii Odoi, Nana Yaa Agyare, Peter Ritchie and Don K. Yamoah.

American actress, Kriesten Adele made a special appearance.

Ogbozo was nominated 19 times at the Ghana Movie Awards (GMA), a records for any movie.

It won 3 awards for Best editor, Best supporting actress and Best soundtrack.

An industry review was held in November of 2020, with industry players including the NFA Chairman Mr David Dontoh.

The other dignitaries include: HRM Eze Chukwudi Ihenetu, Eze Ndi Igbo na Ghana, officials of the Nigerian High Commission led by Mrs Esther Arewa, officials from UN and DAF.

Focused on female genital mutilation and other African taboos, the movie is described as one of the best epic movies made locally.
